[OPEN BETA] Litchi Pilot

this is amazing news, i tried to join beta but says all slots full?
i can wait for the release, any ETA, 2-3 months maybe?

Thus far DJI has not deemed it permissible for all waypoint GPS data to be stored onboard the Mini 3 prior to takeoff, and until the DJI SDK permits that onboard waypoint storage, the ONLY option available when signal connectivity is interrupted between the drone and its controller, will remain RTH.

I am still holding my breath in anticipation of DJI enabling the Mini 3 to perform beyond-RC-signal waypoint missions as is possible with the pricier Mavic 3, but the omens thus far are ominous. Meanwhile, my brand new Mini 3 gathers dust on account of this single key performance limitation, relegating my long-range waypoint flight activity to more capable platforms in my fleet, namely the Mavic 1 Pro, and Mavic 2 Pro.

Unfortunately, with virtual-stick drones, none of the options you recommend are possible. With virtual stick-drones, the mission (including waypoint coordinates) are only stored on your phone/tablet/flying device and not on the drone. Once the connection between the drone and the controller is lost, the drone has no access to any of the data required to go to the previous or next waypoint. The only thing the drone can do is to go into RTH mode. Some drones are able to retrace the previously flown flight path until the connection is restored but once the connection has been lost, the waypoint mission is terminated.

As a capable programmer, I do not understand why after the mission has aborted, the Controller can’t 1. abort the default Drone action (RTH or Land), 2. reload the last loaded/run mission, then 3. restart it choosing a new starting waypoint. That is all I am doing once I hear the RTH beeping begin. Often with the connection being lost for what seems like less than a second and me seeing no less than 2 bars for signal strength at all times.

I do not think the Drone needs to decide much here. On the Drone side I’d simply like to see the option to adjust the time before the Drone decides its connection to Controller has been lost. And if that can’t be done, the rest should still be possible all Controller-side.

I’m sure the concept/solution is much easier for me to express than put into practice; nevertheless, unless I’m missing something this should be possible for the Mini 3 Pro and any other similarly restricted drone models.

Luckily, most of my missions run without an abort issue; it’s the ones where I send her farther out that this occurs more frequently.

Will Litchi Pilot be available for RC Pro when out of beta? I really hope so.

As for waiting for Litchi to work as FPV VR on Mini 3/Pro?
What is the forecast to be able to fly in FPV VR mode?

Hello,

I would like to buy a Mini 3 with RC (display) remote control. Since the remote control does not support the installation of applications, is it possible to use the Litchi Pilot app for mini 3 with this remote control + a phone?
Thanks for the reply.

No.

When you connect a phone to the left USB-C connecter, the Galery app on the DJI RC opens and shows all photos & videos on your phone.
Meanwhile the DJI RC acts as a power bank.

When you connect a phone to the right (open) USB-C connector, you are only able to access the internal storage of the DJI RC and micro-SD card if present with the connected phone.

You can’t run any apps on your phone from the DJI RC.

Pilot has been “ok” since the first run. I am able to choose and it will start ok.

However, the “first run” did require going into android app settings and stopping dji fly for whatever reason. I only mention it in case the same happens to others with the RC-N1 controller

Hello, I would love to test the BETA since I sold my Mini 2 (I was busy with a Litchi Project)
And bought the Mini 3 Pro, I gotta make 1 litchi runs a week for my project it’s important. Can someone give me acces by replying or mail me info@hoogte-fotograaf.nl Cheers!

The maximum number of testers has been reached for this app
Ask the developer to free up spots by removing testers

I sometimes have the application close unexpectedly, does it have any effect if the dji fly application is also installed on the phone, but is not in use at the same time.

Hello, I read on this forum that the beta app that is in beta will work for the DJI Mini 3, which is what I bought. But I bought the Litchi app on Google play in order to update it to work on my mini 3. Now on the forum I found out that it is another app called Litchi Pilot. I ask: How is it for those who bought the Litchi app just to use it on the Mini 3? Will I need to buy Litchi Pilot again?

It would be great if you could open beta to new pilots

It is my understanding that Litchi currently has enough beta testers.

Hi litchi
I have the same problem. I didn’t buy a litchi licence because it was not compatible with mini 3 pro. Now I am a betta tester, but after the installation, the software ask for a valid licence ! I don’t have of course. So how to be a beta tester whithout licence ???, how to proceed ? thank’s for reply

The very first post from the Litchi developers explains how the beta testing process works:

For now, we have restricted access to the beta to pilots who already own the previous Litchi app (on android or iOS). If you do not already own the previous Litchi app, we advise against purchasing it only to get access to the Litchi Pilot beta as Litchi Pilot will be a separate purchase when it is released to the general public.

While that information suggests one should not buy Litchi just only to have access to the beta version of “Litchi Pilot”, it also suggests that in order to use “Litchi Pilot”, you would already need to have a licensed (paid) version of Litchi.

To be honest, you’re not really a ‘beta tester’. You just downloaded the app and now it wont work because you don’t have a valid license. My suggestion is, delete the app and wait until the final production version comes out. That may sound harsh, but its the best option.
