I found this post about the Litchi Pilot Beta. It looks like the beta is full. Are there any plans to add more users to the beta or to replace users that are already part of the beta?
hi
thank for the reply
Let me now when this app will be available. I was just looking to use the application? As soon as it’s available, I’ll buy the licence.
regards
Jerome
Now it worked better after I reinstalled both apps
Did the first test flight yesterday with the Mini 3 Pro and controller N1, 2x the same Waypoints and this went flawlessly. Try again this week with a longer distance. Can I assume that the obstacle sensors work at normal speed?
I’ve been told – but have not confirmed – that obstacle avoidance during virtual stick flights will function but only to brake, not to bypass. Supposedly it didn’t work at all with the initial releases of this MSDK, but was added back in later to match the behavior of the previous MSDK. If anyone can confirm that braking obstacle avoidance during virtual stick flights does function, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Great news! I thought because I was within a Geo zone Litchi Pilot wouldn’t fly a mission. All I got was the drone rising to 1.5m then stopping the mission and switching from virtualsticks to GPS mode.
I then learned from Litchi that a mission flown within 30m of a Geo Boundary or within a Geo Boundary would not run.
Normally I would have thought if you had a Geo Unlock from DJI you would be fine. I do have a Geo Unlock from DJI (I’m within 5 kms from an airport) valid for a year BUT it only extends up 30m (by my design) and a circle 30m out from my house (by design) so really at all times I wouldn’t meet the 30M requirement so my missions wouldn’t fly. Before I got the year long unlock I would just try and launch the drone DJI would say I was in a Geo Zone I would apply for a temporary unlock, then get a cellphone confirmation number and would load that into DJI Fly turn of DJI Fly then start Litchi and away I would go. But it was a pain having to unlock each time.
Anyway I turned off my year long Geo Unlock and just tried the blanket DJI Geo Unlock and low and behold the mission flew perfectly within my house boundary!! This is great as from home I eventually just want to place the drone push a button and have Litchi run a prefect Panorama mission for me above my house from about 30m.
My next test is to load a GEO Unlock with DJI that’s about 100m out and 100m high for as year and see if by invoking that and just flying missions above my house Litchi will work. I’ll report back.
Specs for testing
DJI Mini 3 Pro, Firmware 01.00.0600
DJI Fly App Version 1.10.6
Litchi Pilot Version 1.0.0_Beta-dji Build 129
Samsung A54 Phone , One UI Version 5.1, Android Version 13
DJI RC-N1 Controller Firmware 04.14.0600
New test today with the latest Beta.
Seems that the Drone slows down before reaching at an WP, can anyone confirm this.
Also in Missions with curved Path the Actions as “take Picture, start/stop record” etc. dont work for myself.
And one strange behavior: on the Map the Drone freezes in Mission but live Video OK, switch between both views bring the MissionMap back to life.
The speed at waypoints depends on the curve size at that waypoint, just like driving a vehicle.
Thats’s normal, read the online userguide:
https://flylitchi.com/help#waypoints-p3
Thanks for the information, but the manual is for the Litchi standard app.
Do you know if it works like the Pilot App?
And on straight pathes to the WP it slow down also ?
Greetings from Germany
And the Litchi Pilot app.
The drone will actually stop at each waypoint.
The first post does not tell that you limit the number of beta testers.
As the app is not that expensive I would have considered buying it to get access to beta but the advice is not to do that and instead wait for the first release. That implies to me that the first release is/was to be ready rather soon.
Now a lot of people is locked out from using Litchi waypoints and Mini 3 and no information is given on planned date for the release. Is it weeks, months or years from now?
I know that software development have some uncertainties to it but for sure there is a plan.
I have built and flown over 300 cloud missions with FlyLitchi using IOS. I also have a new Lenovo Android tablet and started using the Test Pilot app on it with my Mini 3 Pro. All of my waypoint missions (with camera features) work as advertised with the new Pilot.
That’s correct. It doesn’t.
I’m not sure how you drew that conclusion. The reason they advise not to buy the current Litchi app just to have access to the new Litchi Pilot app is because they are (will be) two distinct products, each with its own price tag. If the only drone you owned was a Mini 3 Pro, buying the current Litchi app (which doesn’t work with the Mini 3 Pro) just to gain access to the Litchi Pilot beta app (which will work with the Mini 3 Pro) will only provide access to the Litchi Pilot app while it is in beta. Once released, downloading the Litchi Pilot app will require that it is purchased and you would have wasted your money on the current Litchi app.
Yes, they have limited the number of beta testers and we don’t know when the new Litchi Pilot app will be available for purchase. My guess would be a couple months, but that is only a guess.
Yes, I’m sure they have a plan. Whether it is to complete all available flight modes or just the perfect the waypoint flight mode before releasing the new app, we don’t know. They have not made their plan available to the public.
You might better know the issues known with DJI MSDKv5 software layer:
- It’s newly released towards the DJI proprietary controller with an old Android version. And then adding support for Android on mobile devices version 10-13.
- The previous reported issues with all flavors of Android implementation on the avalanche of brands and models are being sorted out, one by one.
- Personally I’m on android 10 w Huawei P20, Android 12/13 on Xiaomi gear with very few app crashes caused by MSDKv5. However there’s a vast number of other concerns from users with Google Pixel series, some Samsung ones and Redmi.
It’s a tremendous puzzle to lay out since there’s inconsistencies in how Android on mobile devices are implemented.
Last but not least, I’m on Beta with both Dronelink DJI and Rainbow Pilot - all in beta for Mini 3 series. Ok?
Tell me please! Will the new Litchi support FPV mode??? i want to use glasses?
Maybe you can use the setup I did for flying FPV. Is that OK for you?
I’m pleased to report that when I reapplied to DJI Flysafe for a year long clearance around my house but made it about 200m out and 100m high I was perfectly able to fly a mission within a Geo Zone that went only 30m high and 20m out. Morale of the story is if doing custom geo unlocks make sure your geo boundary you are setting is well past 30m more (distance and altitude) from your planned mission boundaries. The SDK does factor Geo Unlocks but if 30m or less from an imposed boundary the SDK will kick Litchi out of Virtual Sticks and into GPS mode.
Movie Mask and Drone Mask work brilliantly with Litchi Pilot much better than the Litchi App FPV mode in my opinion. A larger view of the whole screen and high res. I was really impressed with those products.
I’m probably going to get roasted for this, but I tried looking around and can’t find a clear answer.
I have the RC controller for my Mini 3 Pro which I know can’t sideload apps. I bought and extra N1 controller but have an iPhone .
So, before I buy an Android device to run Litchi, can somebody tell me if there is a list of budget phones or tablets that will work with Litchi Pilot? The only required spec I found was that it needs to be a 64-bit CPU.
Thanks!
