Need a way to only have turnaround waypoints and use timed photos
What do you mean by this?
Photo Capture Interval is available already.
I mean only the waypoints at the ends where the drone is changing to a new flight path and not all the intermediate waypoints on each flight path, this would reduce the total number of waypoints and prevent the RC from crashing
how is it selected without the intermediate waypoints ?
if I set a waypoing mision I can select the photo interval but if I create a mapping mission then this option does not exist
Read this thread. Information there can help.
yes I read that but its not the same issue, I want to select mapping but instead of setting forward overlap, I just want to set interval timer (as per the waypoint missions) and that way there will be a lot less waypoints and the RC2 shouldn’t crash
Have you tried opening your newly created mapping mission in the first generation Mission Hub?
If not, try it. You can delete intermediate waypoints (if they are created) and set other mission and waypoint parameters.
so if I open the mission in the old hub it only has turnaround waypoints and then save as new mission and open in new hub still only turnaround waypoints so yes that might be a workaround, need rain to stop to test
Unfortunately this doesn’t work with a larger mission !
When creating a mapping mission with the new Mission Hub the straight-line, interior photos are captured using the “Distance Interval” feature (without waypoints) only when all of the following conditions are true:
-
The “Above Ground” option is not selected.
-
The “Above Ground” option is selected AND the change in ground elevation between waypoints does not exceed one meter.
-
The mission is flown using either the Litchi or Litchi Pilot app.
You mentioned using the RC2. Can I assume you are saving the mapping mission as a KMZ file and then uploaded that to the RC2? If so, the distance interval option is not available.
yes uploading the KMZ to the RC2, this is disappointing as I was hoping to get away from using 3rd party planning tools like Ancient Lands
I was hoping by exporting KMZ and saving it to my RC2 that all functions would work as if using either litchi app, this being said, is anyone currently working to add the timed photo interval to this new mapping option? Thank you!
Setting waypoints for elevation changes is the only to keep the drone from potentially crashing into the hill.
The drone ascends or descends at a steady rate between waypoints with different altitude values. It doesn’t monitor ground level.
Read Wes’s explanation of Above Ground.
You are correct! I was assuming the distance interval option was somehow built into an algorithm to determine height based off Google maps or any other GPS data. Appreciate the info.
This is urgently needed, there are a lot of people using dji drones without Litchi app support, I current have to us Ancient Lands as a workaround
Useful when needed but the majority of sites don’t need terrain following
Evidently, there is some sort of limitation in Litchi’s KMZ export that prevents the distance/timing interval from working.
I am currently trying to get this to work in my KMZ conversion utility. The WPML language does support this function. However, DJI consumer drones have not implemented a way to configure a photo interval function into a waypoint mission using DJI Fly. I am currently testing to see if I can get this working even though it is not supported in DJI Fly.
How is using ancient.land a workaround? That utility outputs a Litchi CSV file. That CSV file still has to be converted to a KMZ file. Neither my conversion utility no Litchi’s KMZ output currently support the DJI distance/timing interval function.
ancient.land allows a mission plan without the intermediate waypoint (too many crash the map in the RC/RC2) then I use the time interval setup on the controller to take photos every 3 seconds or what ever is appropriate for ground speed and overlap required, that’s my method at present
So does the new mapping feature in the new Litchi Mission Hub (if you do not select the above ground option).
How do you convert the ancient.land CSV file to a KMZ file?
Not my experience, when testing last week the intermediate waypoints were added regardless of whether above takeoff or above ground was selected, has this changed recently ?
