Crash RC2 when more than 70 waypoints

In order to provide a complete answer I need to know which drone you are using and your workflow. Since you mentioned the DJI RC2 I am going to assume you have a Mini 4 Pro. Since you are using ancient.land, you must be either converting the CSV to a KMZ using the new Litchi Mission Hub or my utility.

In Litchi’s new Mission Hub, interior waypoints are not generated if you specify a “Litchi for DJI Drones” drone and do not use the “Above Ground” option. The diagonal field of view (FOV) of your drone (assuming a Mini 4 Pro) is 82.1 degrees. The closest “Litchi for DJI Drones” model to that FOV is the Mavic 2 Zoom (83 degrees). To generate a mapping mission in the new Litchi Mission Hub you would need to follow these steps:

  1. Select the Mavic 2 Zoom.

  2. Design the mapping mission.

  3. Switch over to the old Litchi Mission Hub and open the mapping mission just designed.

  4. Export the CSV file.

  5. Switch back to the new Litchi Mission Hub and import that CSV file.

  6. Export the KMZ file.

I know it is a mess but it should work.

I have tried with the mini 4 pro, the Mavic 4 pro and also this afternoon the Mavic 3 Classic, in all cases selecting the above takeoff makes no difference to the intermediate waypoints, if the mission has a lot way points and I try opening in the old Mission Hub I get random waypoints scattered around the equator ! I have found that if in the new mission hub if I select video instead of photo the intermediate waypoints are removed (they return when photo is re-selected) then in the RC if I edit the first and last waypoint to camera no action, I can fly with timed photos, only had one test using this method but seemed to work ok

That is correct, because they are all DJI Fly drones.

Yes. This is because you have selected a “DJI Fly” drone. A mission designed to work with a DJI Fly drone is incompatible with the old Mission Hub.

That sounds correct. I have not tried that. It is probably because currently, the capture of a photo requires a waypoint for DJI Fly drones. If you remove the photo captures, those interior waypoints will not be necessary.

I think it will be possible to include timed or distance photo captures for DJI Fly drones in the future. It is not supported now, but I am doing some experimentation to see if I can get it to work.

Thanks for working on this wesbarris.

Why would you go through the extra step of opening it again in the new Litchi hub?

I would like to report my experience using the new version of Litchi Hub with the DJI Mini 5 Pro. The software works correctly overall, and I have successfully planned and executed waypoint missions. However, I have encountered the same issue during missions with more than 100 waypoints: the RC2 remote controller freezes, becoming unresponsive during flight.

I would like to know if there is a way to remove or skip intermediate waypoints in the mission, so that I can manually set the photo capture interval directly from the remote controller.

Thank you very much for your attention and support.

Same issue here with the mini 5. Works great when importing an KMZ made with Litchi. But when executing the RC2 freezes and the screen is to cluttered. Is there a solution available?

Working with the new mission hub and a aera mapping route with 193 waypoiunts/pictures

All the DJI RC controllers with a screen struggle with some plans due to the performance of the device. There can be many reasons like large plans, too many waypoints, too many functions etc…. Check this one thread. There are other threads which talk about the same issue if you want to search but basically it’s the devices performance, not the Litchi App. Good luck.

Try the latest Hub update released today. You now have 2 options that should help:

  1. When exporting a KMZ, you can now split the output into multiple flights of up to 150 waypoints to avoid crash/freeze on RC2.
  2. Alternatively, you can also set the ‘Photo Capture Mode’ advanced setting to ‘Interval’ and then start the interval capture manually after starting the flight in DJI Fly. This significantly reduces the number of waypoints needed but should still give you good enough results.
