New Litchi Hub RTH

Just putting this out there to see if anyone else is experiencing issues with RTH in Litchi Pilot? If so, I’ll put together all the facts. I have flown an Orbit in one location and a Map in another. Settings are correct. Same result. Drone hovers and RTH button does not take over. I did a test this afternoon flying manually with DJI Fly and RTH worked.

Lately I’ve experienced very inaccurate RTH location determination, going 20 ft or more off center. DJI Fly is still accurate, but Litchi Pilot is very poor. Drone is Mini 3 Pro. KP Index is 7, but if this is the cause why is DJI Pilot not impacted yet Litch Pilot is? (So don’t tell me this is the cause). Any ideas?

There should not be a difference. DJI’s RTH function is built into the drone. You don’t even need an app running for it to work. The drone records its homepoint (GPS coordinates) as it powers up and that value is stored in the drone in case the connection between the controller and drone is lost.

I don’t think the Mini 3 Pro has precision landing. It would depend mostly on GPS to RTH assisted by its downward vision sensors.

With no other information I can’t say why you are experiencing a difference. Are you always waiting for the drone to acquire a strong GPS signal and setting its home point before taking off? Your log files would show this. You could compare the GPS home point with the landing location on one of your flights to troubleshoot this.

Is the best practice to start DJI Fly first and get the Homepoint set there, then launch Litchi Pilot after that? Or does it matter if I directly Launch Litchi Pilot first? Here is what I got with 22 Satellites and note the large offset (20 feet off the drone location) of the Homepoint.

No need to use DJI Fly.
The home point is set when you take off. RTH precision should be the same as DJI Fly, except possibly in cases where the drone supports precision landing and takes a photo of the landing spot when taking off. Use of automatic take off might help.

Excellent point - thanks. Another Question. If I start my Mavic 3E (with RTK), and let it converge in the Pilot 2 App, then switch over to Litchi Pilot, does Litchi Pilot fly using the RTK or does it revert back to regular GNSS? (I do notice the difference in the number of satellites when I am using RTK (30 typically) vs GNSS (20 typically). Hence my question. Thanks,
