Heading modes for Waypoints

What are Auto (TNW), Initial (ID), Manual (UC) and Custom (WD) modes and how to use them?
So far I figured that Auto would follow direction of next waypoint and Custom allows to set heading to POI direction. How do you set waypoint at aircraft?
