Waypoint Flights Created with New Litchi Hub NOT being copied to Litchi App

I am probably missing something obvious, but the most recent few waypoint flights I created with the New Litchi Mission Hub are showing as “Not linked to Server”, and are not being auto-copied to the Litchi App on my iPad, as was done automatically until very recently.

Looking through the new mission hub settings, I found the options I could click on to “sync license” and “sync with Airdata UAV”, but I found nothing about syncing to the server. Right up till a few days ago, waypoint flights that I created with either the new or old Litchi Mission Hub were automatically copied to the Litchi app without the need for me to request that syncing process via any menu item.

I would be grateful if anyone could be kind enough to explain how I can go about restoring the auto-sync that used to copy newly created waypoint flights to my mobile device, since my intent is always to fly those newly created waypoint missions, once they are created with the Litchi Mission Hub.

I tried logging out and logging back in, but was unable to restore that auto-sync of all waypoint missions to the server, or to both mobile devices that I use for flying those waypoint missions. In summary, the waypoint missions created with the new Mission Hub do replicate an obviously corrupted version in the old Mission Hub, but don’t replicate at all to my mobile devices, so my ability to test-fly new waypoint missions is grounded until a solution to this predicament appears.

As said before, please avoid using the old Hub if you use the new Hub. It can only create issues and won’t give you any benefits since most if not all old Hub features are in the new Hub + much more.

Please also make sure when you have these kind of issues that you give us more details about your setup:

  • drone model
  • which app you use (there are many Litchi apps, we need to know the exact one, the version and the device model/OS it runs on)
  • screenshots help a lot to diagnose issues quickly
  • anything else you can think of that will help us help you

While you should not have to do that in general, an easy way to fix mission sync issues in the Litchi mobile app is to reinstall it and log back in to your Litchi account.

Once again I thank you for this swift response, Vico. As I gather the information requested here, I must mention that the waypoint missions which did not show up at all on my iPad’s Litchi app, all showed up on my Android Samsung’s Litchi app copy, where they are all grouped together in a subset entitled “Flights not synced with server”.

In the Samsung tablet, when I clicked on the waypoint flight I created moments ago within that folder of “non-synced flights” the entire mission showed up, to my relief and amazement. This tells me that my iPad’s IOS version of Litchi is part of the reason for this odd problem.

I’ll step outside and fly this new mission with one of my trusty old Air 1’s, using the Samsung tablet instead of the iPad, to verify that the waypoint mission, despite its inclusion in a folder called “flights not synced to the server” will fly without any complications. Wish me luck haha.

I will henceforth follow to the letter the advice you’ve given that all use of the old Litchi Mission Hub would best be discontinued. That old saying comes to mind as I muddle along here “ When all else fails, read the instructions.”

Flights inside the “flights not synced to the server” are flights that you created locally in the Litchi app on android. They were not uploaded to the cloud/servers because you have the setting Sync local missions OFF in Litchi’s general settings, see Help - Litchi

  • Sync Local Missions: When enabled, and provided you are logged in to your Litchi account, missions created on the device will be synced to the cloud so you can access them on other devices.

This is the setting option I didn’t spot earlier, and I thank you for pointing it out, Vico. I must now do a more careful search for the Sync Local Missions option in the new Litchi Mission Hub where I first created the waypoint missions that haven’t yet been copied to other devices.

There is not “Sync Local Mission” in the Mission Hub. Anything created in the Mission Hub is by default in Litchi’s cloud. The “Sync Local Mission” is only an app setting.

This assurance does reduce my bafflement, Wes, and I thank you for confirming what I assumed was the case, namely that the Mission Hub should automatically copy all newly created waypoint files to the cloud.

The fact that several waypoint missions that I created, as usual, on the Hub, are listed as not being synced with the server remains a mystery for now.

Please include a screenshot of where you see them listed as not synced. Or if you are saying that they do not appear on your mobile device inside the Litchi app, then you should check the usual things such as if you’re logged in to your Litchi account (try log out and log back in) and check internet is working (try to load a webpage in the browser to confirm). If both are ok, then a simple reinstall of Litchi should fix it.

I am pleased to report that the Mission Hub Bridge now works flawlessly on my iPad, as waypoint missions created on my Dell laptop using the new Litchi Mission Hub are now being faithfully replicated in DJI Fly on my iPad.

Following the steps kindly spelled out for me by Litchi staffer Vico, I first uninstalled and reinstalled DJI Fly on the iPad, and then created a few more short “dummy” waypoint missions that would become templates to be overwritten inside DJI Fly’s waypoint folder by waypoint missions imported from Litchi Mission Hub on my laptop.

For the overwrite process to work without a hitch, it was necessary to ensure that the latest version of the Mission Hub Bridge was running in the background, along with an app named “Apple Devices” that is available for free as a download from the App Store.

The newly overwritten waypoint files in DJI Fly required one final step to become visible in the DJI Fly waypoints folder. The DJI Fly app must be shut down, which I wrongly thought in the past would entail the iPad being switched off and back on.

For my iPad model, the closure of DJI Fly entailed pressing the “Home” button twice in rapid succession and then swiping the DJI Fly thumbnail upward to effect the app’s proper closure. Upon restarting DJI Fly after its closure with that upward swipe of the thumbnail, I was delighted to see that all five highly complex long-range Litchi waypoint missions had been faithfully replicated in DJI Fly’s waypoint missions listing.

Once again, I thank Vico for alerting me to that simple sequence of steps to close DJI Fly that I frankly forgot had already been mentioned earlier, as I flailed about here chasing dead ends and wishing I’d paid more attention in school. In conclusion, I can attest that order has finally been restored to the known universe and that Litchi is by a wide margin the benchmark of modern drone interface apps.

An honorable mention is due to the tech guru Wes Barris, for wading through my often long-winded complaints to distill meaning, before offering nuggets of wisdom that saved me more time and effort than I’d care to admit. I owe you a beer or two, sir. I am sincerely grateful for your presence in support of the Litchi team.

All’s well that ends well, my fellow armchair aviators. Now then, I have some drone flying to do.

As a clarifying footnote, I uninstalled BOTH the Litchi app, and DJI Fly, as a prelude to reinstalling them both. I’d been bombarding this forum with questions relating to both the Litchi app AND to DJI Fly, so if this concluding remark has been posted under the wrong topic, please forgive the mistake that I will blame on my elation over this solved problem.

That is interesting. This is not a requirement for copying missions from the Mission Hub to the RC2. When copying missions to the RC2, the only requirement is to not have the dummy waypoint mission open when attempting to overwrite it.

I would love to test what you have discovered but I don’t think I can. I do have an iPad with DJI Fly installed. However, I do not use my iPad to fly a modern DJI drone that supports “KMZ style” waypoint missions.

I have attempted to use Litchi Hub Bridge with my iPad connected to the computer but Litchi Hub Bridge does not recognize my iPad as being connected.

For iPhone/iPad, there is a difference compared to android devices because we are writing to DJI’s database. As such it’s recommended to close DJI Fly (or simply not start it) before exporting. You can still export with DJI Fly running but then you will need to restart DJI Fly to view any updates.

As for your iPad @wesbarris you need waypoint mode enabled in DJI Fly for it to be recognized as we look for the presence of the waypoint folder.

It is Groundhog Day, and I am back seeking any possible updates that might explain why a growing list of waypoint flights I created with the new Litchi Hub do not yet appear in the saved flights listing of the Litchi app on my iPad, despite my ensuring that the Litchi app’s general settings page shows the “Sync Local Missions” option as being enabled and flagged in green.

For my Air 3 that operates with DJI Fly, the Litchi Mission Hub Bridge works as designed, when I follow the steps of connecting the iPad to my laptop via its Apple Lightning cable to transpose waypoint plans into DJI Fly using the overwrite technique of the superb Hub Bridge.

Recently, though, despite my using the new Litchi Mission Hub exclusively after discontinuing all use of the old Litchi Hub, the syncing of missions with the Litchi app from the Litchi Hub, which had previously been an automated process requiring no input from me beyond ensuring that the “Sync Local Missions” tap is actuated, has stopped working.

I hope my presumption is correct that there is no new version of my iPad’s Litchi app that I might have neglected to download, and that the Litchi Mission Hub on my laptop is the only component of Litchi for which a new version exists.

If this syncing interruption that seems to have occurred between the new Litchi Mission Hub on my desktop and the Litchi app on my iPad can be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the Litchi app on the iPad, I will go ahead and take that step, but before doing that, I decided to enquire again here if I might be overlooking anything, since my attention to detail isn’t what it used to be.

Thanks in advance again for any pointers that can be offered about this question that has arisen just over the past week or so, following my move from the old to the new Mission Hub.

“Sync Local Missions” means that missions created and/or modified LOCAL (on your flying device, in your case your iPad) are synced with the Mission Hub. NOT the other way around.

Ah, this wasn’t clear to me all along. This means that the backlog of waypoint missions that I created with the new Mission Hub, which are all currently designated as “Flights not synced to server”, might require an action that I don’t recall having to take in the past, since all waypoint missions were automatically replicated in the Litchi app on my iPad, if memory serves me right.

My rarely ever seeing the forest for the trees might explain why I am still scratching my head here, so I might try deleting and then reinstalling the Litchi app on my iPad, in the hopes that step may resolve the issue.

I would be grateful to hear if there might be any means to restore the auto-syncing of saved waypoint missions created using the new Mission Hub, with the Litchi app on my iPad, short of a complete reinstall. I must add that I create all my waypoint flights using the Mission Hub, since touch-screen use has always been a challenge for these clumsy fingers.

This means that the Mission Hub has no access to Litchi’s servers (Litchi’s cloud as you will).
Possible causes are:
-No internet access
-A Firewall prevents the access
-A WiFi connection with limited access
I would start with restarting my router.

Reinstalling the Litchi (pilot) app will not fix this because it plays no role in this “issue”.

Giving these directions a try now. Good to know I needn’t reinstall the Litchi app.

If you’re using the latest version of Litchi for DJI Drones on Android version 5.0+ then the setting is actually renamed and relocated. It is now called ‘Sync Local Flights’ and it is located within the waypoint flight browser, in the menu at the top right corner of the screen. Litchi Pilot (for newer drone models) also has the same setting. On Litchi for DJI Drones for iPhone/iPad, this setting is called ‘Sync Local Missions’ and is located in the general settings.

When this setting is OFF (which is the case by default for privacy reasons), it means any mission you create locally will not be uploaded/synced to the cloud. In other words, you won’t see the mission in Litchi Hub, or on any other devices you may have.
Turn it on to enable upload/sync of locally created flights (i.e. created within the mobile app).

If you create a waypoint flight in Litchi Hub and don’t see it in your mobile Litchi app, it has nothing to do with this above setting, the problem is elsewhere as this setting only applies to flights created in the mobile app.

Something else worth noting is that the Litchi app on iOS does not support folders well. When using the iOS version of Litchi, if you would like to access a flight that was created in Litchi Hub we highly recommend to avoid creating such flights in a folder. Create it at the root of your flight library, then it should sync without issues. Further, don’t forget that the Litchi app on iOS will only be able to load waypoint flights created for older drone models (anything released before Mini 3).

Thanks to these points made here, Vico, including the observation that the IOS system does not support folders well, I checked my Samsung tablet to see if the saved flights that don’t appear in the iPad might be present in the Samsung Android tablet. To my relief, all 22 of those flights are right there listed in a folder entitled “Flights not linked with server” in the Samsung, which is the same folder name under which those waypoint flights are listed in the new Mission Hub on my laptop where the waypoint missions were initially created..

I had set the Samsung tablet aside for a few days while I dabbled with the import of waypoint flights into the iPad, because of the unresolved issue preventing me from importing waypoint flights from the new Litchi Mission Hub into DJI Fly on the Samsung Android tablet.

In short, thanks to this post above, I now have viable workaround solutions for operating both my older drone fleet, and my Air 3, despite the DJI Fly and Litchi app waypoint file import problems specific to the Android and IOS platforms that can now remain unresolved for the time being.

Finally, and after much flailing about, I am now able to launch all my saved drone missions using either DJI Fly on the iPad for my Air 3, or Litchi on the Samsung, for my older DJI Go4 and DJI Go drones. This means that between the iPad and the Samsung tablets, my entire fleet of old and new DJI drones can be launched on waypoint missions created with the new Litchi Mission Hub, for export to one or the other mobile device.

My vote of thanks goes out to Vico and Tribar, without whose shared insights I’d still be flailing about here trying to solve issues whose resolution can now be postponed for as long as I wish, by the simple expedient of my selecting one or the other of my two tablets to suit the vintage of the drone I am about to launch..

This helped me a lot. Thanks!
