I’m interested in Waypoints especially following routes in woodland.
I’m trying to figure out how to get better accuracy, so the MIN4 Pro follows ‘say’ the footpath and doesn’t drift sideways into the bushes. I’ve been looking into RTK, but it’s a bit too expensive at the moment.
Also when setting a waypoint mission, and at the end of the route, I want it to return by the same path, but it won’t turn round and return without a curve at the end of the route. Is there a way to stop this?
The old Litchi hub had reverse for action on finish but I’ve never used it so I don’t how it works. If you set the Action on Finish to reverse in the old Litchi hub and then go to the new Litchi hub, it has it set to “Hold and wait for further action.” which is apparently the way it works by holding down the right stick. You would need to find an article or thread about how to utilize it further since I’ve never use it.
I would just create a return path over the other and set the pathing to straight pathing. This way it would not have a wide curved turn and would just rotate at the last waypoint. These consumer drones accuracy can be anywhere from a couple feet to as much as 13’ off which has been tested. I have flown a lot of low altitude AGL missions over the years following a forest road and overall it’s fairy close but a few feet off is pretty common. It’s not the altitude I had most of the issues with it’s the distance due to the road only being about 10’ wide and it could run close to the edge of roadway and close to tree branches which stick out. If it’s a footpath as you said you probably don’t have a wide path. Without a RTK ability drone I’d be very careful. A Low altitude path which is not that wide will more than likely be difficult. Just some info which may help. Good luck.
The tests I’ve made confirm what you say, as the drone is too far out of accuracy, for what I want to do. I have an interesting old road that is now closed and over grown, but as the drone, in a waypoint mission, doesn’t use ‘avoid’ only ‘stop’ this would be frustrating. I had the idea that I could fly an interesting through trees mission, in different seasons, and blend them into one video. Never mind!
My next idea, is to fly round and round a good tree through the seasons, so it shows from a bare tree to full leaves, then autumn again. As this can be more open, it should be good.
I’ve done something similar. I captured a photo every other day on a tree on my property once it started blooming. It took time of course but something to do in my retired life. Best wishes for the new year. Mike…
Nice idea! I’ve done a few such transitions from daytime to night. But one of the best I’ve seen, and which inspired me, is the video “The Harvest tree” by Radioflyerman on Youtube. Check it out!
For my taste, I’m thinking more about the tree, and try to get how stark and old oak tree is without it’s leaves, and the transformation to fully leafed should be as dramatic as I can make it.
