I find that the Litchi app works sometime with my Mini 3 pro and other times it doesn’t. It will just hover and not start the mission or fly to the 1st Waypoint and stay. Any suggestions please?
You have to start a mission with the drone stationary and the propellers turned Off.

The drone has to be within line of sight with the controller (No obstacles inbetween).
Have a look at this thread:
Be careful of windy conditions, this can sometimes prevent the drone from reaching its target.
Thank. You Kashmiri but it wasn’t windy.
Thanks but I don’t see where it says that you don’t start the drone up first but I’ll certainly try that. Not knowing where to get advice I turned to Chat GPT that suggested I start the drone, raise to abut 15 ft and let it Hover before starting mission.
You have two choices for starting a waypoint mission:
- With the drone on the ground and the propellers not spinning.
- With the drone in the air (and, of course, the propellers are spinning).
I seem to remember, that if you have the drone on the ground with the propellers spinning, a waypoint mission cannot be started. I haven’t tried that in so long that I can’t be sure any more.
When I fly a waypoint mission, I always fly close to where the starting waypoint is, and then execute the mission.
While there is nothing wrong with that answer from ChatGPT, I wouldn’t trust anything from AI until after I verified it. Also, there is nothing magic about 15 feet. Who knows where ChatGPT got that from.
You could possibly post the failing mission on the mission planner with “sharing” enabled for someone to look at it… but also yourself just double-check and edit your mission for possibly conflicting commmands… just imagine the drone trying to do the things you are asking and try to simplify where possible…you might discover a bug that would be useful to find…ie:say for instance you have “interval photos” with also having “take photo at wpt”…this might work better without the wpt photos as they could be an overlapping command… ? (not saying this is the case-just an example of a possible.)
…
That’s what I do. Launch, hoist 'er up, make sure everything’s stable etc. I suppose the AI’s 15 feet qualifies as the same.
Thank you Wes for this.
I have had this issue with my mini 3 pro. It seems to happen more often on windy flights. I am just flying mapping missions. My issue seems to be the drone just can not seem to be able to make it all the way to the waypoint.
Stopping the mission and restarting it at the next waypoint works for me. I have also try to manually fly the drone ot the waypoint and that seems to work.
I think maybe the virtual sticks control is just not able to give “full power” to the drone to be able to make it to the waypoint location. For me I only have the issue when the drone is trying to “back” into the waypoint.
Hope this helps. Don’t get frustrated. Litchi and the support apps like https://ancient.land/ and https://www.litchiutilities.com/ are just AWESOME!!
If there is anything else I can do to help you please let me know.
Hi Seth, thanks for your info. I haven’t noticed it happening relative to wind. Sometimes it doesn’t make to 1st point like your but when it does I often have to turn in around to face the right direction. Often it just won’t move on. Lately I’ve been pausing the mission and then restarting but with limited success. I’m disappointed but have come to the point where I’ve decided it’s just not reliable enough for paid gigs and willl next try Maven Evo. Best to you.
Easiest first. Make sure controller is in Normal mode. If not that. Go over every waypoint with a magnifying glass. It’s usually not Litchi. Just saying.
Interestingly I am testing "another app’ that has the same issue with my Phantom Pro 4. I intend to do a comparison with Litchi to see if it has this same behaviour. I experience this mostly when the mission has other actions programmed like taking a photo or starting a recording. It also tends to forget to do the final action like going home, never doing a reverse or going back to the first waypoint.
Thank you Rick but I do make sure it is in normal mode. Also, I’m testing using the same mission I’ve had for a while and not altering it. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t,
I’m also testing another app for my mini 3 pro and that is Maven Evo. Be interested to hear if you find something that works for you. Thanks.
Is this issue happening only for the first waypoint, or randomly for any waypoint?
It would help if you share a flight on the Hub where you encountered this issue
It can stall on any waypoint and it’s reluctant to return to home. I don’t know how accurate Chat GPT is but it’s explanation seems to make sense because the same thing is happening with Maven Evo and Map Pilot Pro. It’s explanation is all 3rd party apps are glitchy with the Mini 3 Pro even Dronelink, though it says it’s the most reliable. Its SDK was released fairly recently and it hasn’t had the same time for kinks to be ironed out as much as drones like the mini 2. I’ve done numerous tests with the drone for weeks.
