Where is technology to prevent power-line accidents during missions, an obstacle-avoidance for powerlines, if you will?
I mainly conduct terrain-following missions and have flown inches from, and even directly through, remote powerlines several times. Here are a couple of links showcasing my near-fatal missions.
That would be a question for DJI as it is controlled by the drones firmware, not any third party app. No matter how good the DJI OA is the ability to detect power lines is difficult. It’s the same with small branches on trees which many have hit over the years because they think it should detect anything regardless of size.
Sure, that makes sense. I guess I didn’t think it through too much; it was just a knee-jerk reaction after witnessing a couple of near-death experiences with my birds. I usually conduct a high-altitude test run before activating the terrain-follow feature. Sometimes, I simply miss a few details.
