Phantom 3 Standard Won't Fly Route

I did do a bunch of searches and didn’t find anything on this topic. But it’s possible I didn’t search correctly so if that’s the case, apologies and please point me to the correct location for help.

I have a Phantom 3 Standard. Haven’t used it in quite a few years but I got it running again with a new battery and it’s working great. I planned a route on Litchi Hub and downloaded it onto my phone. It shows up on my phone fine and when I tap on “play” it gives me the option to hit '“cancel” or “go” which should fly the flight plan. My drone just hovered there not doing anything no matter what I did. I tried re-downloading the plan, restarting the drone, changing starting point. Still nothing. I don’t see anything locked on the screen. No warning messages. Everything looked good on the app end.

Can anyone please point me to the right tutorial info to make this work or tell me what could be causing the problem?

I have a Phantom 3 Standard and use Litchi to fly waypoint missions.

What do you mean by this? If you design a mission in Litchi’s Mission Hub, it should automatically sync to the Litchi app on your phone. There should be no downloading necessary.

Without seeing exactly what you are doing or viewing a log, I can only guess. Have you connected your phone to the WiFi signal from your controller? Do you get any error messages when trying to execute the mission? Is the switch in the upper-right corner of your controller in the “waypoint P-GPS” position? That would be switched down or toward you. If that switch is placed in the position away from you (switched up), you should receive an error message when attempting to fly the mission.

How far from you is waypoint #1? Is there a change in behavior if you land the drone, shut off the motors, and then execute the mission? If the drone is on the ground with the motors running and you try to execute the mission, it will not work.

OK, so I should have stated, “opened it on my phone” so my mistake. Not downloaded it.
And it does sync to the phone, but I have to use the open mission folder so I get that.

So, your last sentence pretty much spelled out the entire problem. I was starting the drone and bringing it up to a hover about 5 feet above the ground. I will try it again with a test mission and I will not try to start the drone or do anything other than run the mission. That’s obviously what I did wrong.

That is actually ok. To start a waypoint mission you can either:

  1. Have the drone on, connected, but not started, on the ground.
  2. Have the drone hovering in air.

However, if the drone is sitting on the ground with the motors running, you cannot start a waypoint mission.

OK, I’ll try method 1 tomorrow. Method 2 did not work for me for some reason. Thank you!

As Wes mentioned the controller switch needs to be in Normal “P” position. The mission can’t execute if in tripod/ Cine mode or sport mode. Are you sure it was in the current mode ? Just something to check.

Sorry for the delay getting back. I wasn’t up to doing it yesterday. I tested it this morning and it worked perfect. It few the route, took the pictures and returned home. Putting the drone on the ground while on but not with the propellers active did the trick! Thanks for the help and you can mark it as resolved. I really like the app a lot. I’m still getting used to it but it’s really good.
