No Photos Taken During Waypoint Testing

Hi all. I’m new at Litchi, hence I would like to test it out for the first time using Waypoint. Setting the waypoint, I add in stay for 10 sec, Stop Recording, Take Photo, Start Recording.

There was the video during the waypoint, as in the setting I set in to Auto record upon take off.

However, I found out that there was no photos taken in the SD Card.

I thought it was supposedly to be on auto mode. Or should I just put it on Stay for 10sec and manually stop the video and take photo?

Waypoint actions are ignored when ‘path mode’ is set to ‘curved turns’.

Hi Yordie. I have rectified it back to straight lines. Yet it still won’t take photo. Maybe I’ll try again and update the results here.

Did you hear the photo-taking sound when the photos were supposed to be taken? Try re-arranging your waypoint actions to be:

  1. Stop recording
  2. Stay for 1 second
  3. Take photo
  4. Start recording

Did you have the video recordings on the SD card? Just asking because some drones also have internal memory on which photos and videos can be stored.

Hi Wesbarris.
Yes, I did do that.

  1. Stop recording
  2. Stay for 1 second
  3. Take photo
  4. Start recording

I did have the video on the sd card. However, there is no photos to be found. The DJI Mini2 did not have any internal memory. It only uses SD Card.

I’ll try again tomorrow

Hi Wesbarris.
I have reset the waypoint setting according to advice, the Mini 2 flew accordingly, however it did not take any photo. Could it be that video was automatically recording upon take off? But the waypoint instruction was to -Stop recording. take photo, start recording.
Confused.

If I were you I would try turning off “Auto-Recording”.

Please share your mission by unchecking the “Private” checkbox and pasting the URL into your reply.

Hi Wesbarris.

My trial today, the results are all jumbled up.

The video was captured from waypoint 1 to waypoint. Then no photos were taken. The drone proceed to waypoint 3 without any video, but managed to take photo.

I really appreciate your guidance and help.

Thank You

Last Try.
From Waypoint 1 to Waypoint 2, the video was Ok. Then at Waypoint 2, no photos were taken. Waypoint 3 was to ensure that the video will be activated again. Only at Waypoint 4 photos were taken

Verdict: I guess my next try will be to pause the Waypoint mission, take photo manually and continue the mission again.

Maybe Mini2 is not fully compatible or is it on my part that it is not working properly.

You only need to insert a pause (STAY FOR … seconds) AFTER ‘stop recording’ & ‘take photo’ in order to give the camera time to clear it’s memory buffer and write all data to the micro-sd card.
During writing to the sd card the camera does not accept any commands.

At WP2 the actions:
‘Stay For 4s’
‘Stop Recording’
‘Take Photo’
will result in ‘stop recording’ only, NO photo will be taken.

The actions:
‘Stop Recording’
‘Stay For 4s’
‘Take Photo’
will result in ‘stop recording’ AND a photo will be taken.

Besides that: 1 second should be enough.

Hi Yordie, Thank You for your guidance.

Then should I continue with Start Recording and delete WP3 to continue, or maintain the WP3?

Thank you.

Yes.

Try to understand the reason/logic for inserting a pause after ‘stop recording’ & ‘take photo’ as i described in my previous post.

@Yordie has already pointed out that the order of your camera actions at Waypoint 2 are probably causing this photo to be skipped:
Capture

You will need a pause (“Wait for”) between the “Stop Recording” and “Take Photo” as Yordie described.

The issue you describe comes up frequently. When people begin testing these LItchi waypoint/camera actions for the first time they try to combine the taking of photos and video into one mission. After further experimenting with Litchi missions you will find that:

  1. Missions designed for the capture of video are much more pleasing when curved turns (no waypoint actions) are used.
  2. Missions designed for the capture of photos require straight paths between waypoints.
  3. While it is possible to use one mission to capture both photos and video, you will get better results if you separate the two.

Hi @wesbarris ,
Thank you for your guidance and coaching. I truly appreciate this from you.
I was thinking of that too to separate the two. But sometimes one may want to combine the two.
I now realise that for photo the mission have to be that of straight path, and video can incorporate the curve path.
Thank you very much, to you and @Yordie
I still have lots to learn and try out like waypoint and orbit, panorama and other related functions.

I’m having a similar issue. But in my case, I stopped recording at one waypoint, moved to another, waited 2 seconds then took a photo. But the photo wasn’t taken.
I couldn’t think on any solution anymore.

@Kalleb ,
Look at post #1. Do you have the Path Mode set to Curved Turns, like the image shows?
If you do, no actions will ever be taken.
