Mission stop on Zero signal

When running a mission if I get a low RC signal the drone stops and aimlessly yaws in its position. If doesn’t do a RTH (I have RTH set in final)?? I have to switch to FPV mode and wave the TX around until it gets a signal then I can do a RTH. DJI Air 2S

Under Settings–>Aircraft check the

Signal Lost Behavior: This defines the behavior of the aircraft if signal is lost; choose between “Hover”, “Landing” or “Return To Home”.

Thx, it was set to RTH. It just stayed in one spot spinning. Anyway, I just found out that it must have an RC signal as it doesn’t store way points on the drone like the DJI Go quads do. I often took my Mavic 2 pro out way past my RC signal. It stayed on the WP’s and came back.

I have often wondered about this. The video link is a broadband signal that is much more easily lost than the narrowband RC signal. I expect that many cases of “not doing RTH” is simply that the drone is still receiving a valid RC signal, while the operator thinks the signal link is lost - but the control signal not lost so the drone is not going to RTH (until you press the button).,

The end of mission RTH command will only activate once the mission is complete which is why it didn’t immediately return. Since the mission stop before completing it then the RTH command at end of mission can’t be activated. Since it was a disconnect which stops the mission the RTH state is controlled by the drones firmware based on how you have it set in the DJI Fly app. Default is always RTH on disconnect unless you changed it before flight. It takes about a full 11 continuous seconds for RTH on disconnect to activate. Not sure why it was yawing but it may have been due to it connecting and disconnecting back and forth which means it won’t trigger the RTH until there has been a continuous 11 seconds of no signal. If you can’t trigger the RTH triggers manually due to the signal loss from the controller then the easiest way to force the RTH on disconnect would be to power off the controller. This will then activate the RTH after 11 seconds since it can’t continuously keep trying to connect and disconnect since there will be no signal from the controller. Once it starts returning and getting closer you can then power the controller back on and take manual control. If you don’t then it will continue to return at the RTH altitude you have set in the DJI app which is stored in the drones firmware. Then it will return and then land at the recorded home-point. Just some info which may out in the future. Enjoy.
