Mini 2 banked hard to side and nearly crashed with litchi app but fine with DJI

Hi

I was just flying my mini 2 with litchi app to test out its features. My drone flies fine with DJI app but as soon as I changed to litchi the drone went crazy and started to bank to side and fly horizontally. I managed to get it up above the trees thankfully where I changed apps from litchi to DJI which stabilized the drone. Any idea why this happened? I’m scared to use litchi again. I nearly lost the drone.

You didn’t provide any details so we can only guess. Assuming that you are flying using an Android device, did you “force-close” DJI Fly before starting Litchi?

I have used the iOS versions of DJI Fly and Litchi and have never had the problem you describe.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I am on iOS. I have used litchi before and it was fine. I don’t recall the exact details but I had just used DJI app without problems but my range was limited for some reason and required me to log in to unlock the range. Must have been an update or something requiring a new log in. I was in a remote area and had no reception so could not log in. I figured I would try the litchi app to see if I could bypass that but as soon as I took off it began to tilt and fly to the left violently. We were surrounded by dense trees but I somehow managed to get it up above the tree line and quickly changed the app to DJI which immediately stabilized the drone. I did not force close DJI app prior to opening litchi. Just to clarify though. I took off with litchi app. I did not change to litchi mid flight. I did change back to DJI mid flight while the drone was misbehaving.

DJI Fly requires you to be logged in during a 90-day period (I think). If you regularly use DJI Fly it is normally not an issue. If you don’t use DJI Fly for a period of time, DJI may automatically log you out. The drone’s height and distance will be limited unless you log back into your DJI account.

This sounds like a “yaw error” which occurs when the compass is deflected by metal at your take-off location but this is only a guess. What type of surface did you take off from? Before taking off did you check the direction of the drone icon on the map on your flying device and compare it to the actual drone’s orientation?

This is not necessary when using iOS. I never have to “force-close” either app when using the other.

To find out exactly why the drone violently moved to the left you would have to look at the flight logs. The easiest way is through the use of an AirData account. If you want to pursue that let us know.

The only time I’ve experienced anything like this with my mini2 and 3rd party software is when I was in follow mode and got the drone to close to myself and hence the controller
