Litchi Orbit Export to DJI Controller or Flight Hub

I am flying a Mavic 3E and using the DJI RC Pro controller. I am trying to plan an orbit mission in Litchi and then transfer the mission to the controller.

The direct transfer from Litchi hub to the controller is not 100% reliable - get into the duplicate value error and some combo of rebooting, create a new mission on the controller to overwrite etc. gets it to work for awhile. Exporting from Litchi hub to a DJI KMZ file and then importing seems very reliable and eliminates the need for the USB cable.

My problem though is the results. It’s a typical orbit around a building and I want to ensure I have some horizon in the video. So the first hurdle is adjusting the POI height to get the desired framing. This is made a little more difficult because the simulation shows a 4:3 aspect ratio but I am shooting at 16:9 so while the simulation looks fine, the results are cropped and part of the horizon might get left out. It would be helpful to see a true 16:9 aspect ratio. I know the projection has two red lines to show the area that will be cropped out but it would be nice to see that in the simulated view.

Bigger problem is how to get the drone to face the center of the orbit. The export process is creating all the waypoints as expected but it is not setting the heading correctly. I think the solution might be to follow the path and turn the drone 90 degrees inward from the path but I’m not seeing how that can be configured.

Because DJI doesn’t support POI, the gimbal angle is another problem. The gimbal is set once on the first waypoint (after export/import to flight hub) and is not changed at any of the other waypoints.

I thought Litchi would examine the orbit, determine the number of waypoints needed and set appropriate heading and gimbal pitches for each waypoint presumably with transitioning smoothly between the waypoints.

I am going to look into installing Litchi pilot on my RC Pro controller and see how using that app will work instead of using the DJI app.

Apologies for the rambling message - looking for the best approach to design and execute the orbit mission.

Smart KMZ Export can be fiddly with the RC Pro enterprise. In our experience, when it happens even the windows explorer freezes. I don’t think there is much that can be done unfortunately. Unplug/replub usb cable should fix it.

You can change the aspect ratio in the simulation by changing the Capture Mode between Photo and Video

So we can look into your Orbit center facing issues, please share the flight in Litchi Hub. The sharing guide can be found here: [GUIDE] How to Share a Flight or Folder

Be aware that DJI Pilot 2 has a lot of limitations regarding what it can do with the gimbal because DJI does not want you to use it for filming.

I’m curious to know if you’ve tried DJI Flight Hub? It is designed to be used with the M3E. I use Litchi when using other DJI models such as M3 Pro.
