I fly drones for the local SAR Team. A common request is to fly to Lat/Long. The Mini 4 Pro is often my best tool but both DJI and Litchi either do not easily accept a single waypoint defined by the numerics of lat/long or in the case of DJI Fly I cannot enter a numeric at all. Any thoughts? Thanks!
First of all, Litchi is NOT compatible with the Mini 4 Pro.
There is a workaround but that takes some effort.
Visit:
and look for the “Litchi Mission to DJI Fly or Pilot 2 Waypoints” utility.
When you use a drone that is compatible with Litchi or Litchi Pilot, you can enter coördinates (xxx.xxxxxx°) using either the Litchi Hub or the Litchi (Pilot) app.
In case of the Litchi app, you have to enable “Show GPS Coördinates” in the General Settings.
I am aware, thank you. The workaround is more cumbersome than an emergency response would allow for. I am mainly interested in hearing if anyone else is concerned and if it is worth any further action.
Yes, the required steps are cumbersome for the first-time user or if you rarely do this sort of thing. However, like anything else, once you are used to the process of creating and loading missions, the process is quite easy.
I am not sure that “concerned” is the correct word. Many are disappointed that DJI chose not to provide an SDK that would allow 3rd-party connectivity. Many are also disappointed in DJI’s cumbersome implementation of waypoints in DJI Fly.
What action would you suggest?
If DJI could add waypoint lat/long entry this would be best. Maybe it is alredy in the works. It would be more likely to happen if many people asked DJI for this. Also it seems to me it would be a simple update but I am not a programmer so I could be wrong.
I’m sure it would be an easy feature to add. Unfortunately, DJI has yet to demonstrate that they add features that their consumers ask for.
Well I did ask today. I’ll let you know what I hear.
