Litchi app Forced Landing After Takeoff

Well, Im not sure why this happened… but I do believe that it has something to do with NFZ in my area. But It was weird… I turned on drone, then controller, and it prompted me to open the Litchi app. I opened app and within a few seconds it went green on the top of the screen letting me know that it was in position mode. I proceeded to launch the aircraft with pushing both sticks to the inward center and then picked up the altitude. I flew for about 1 min before it popped up a little prompt saying “Aircraft cannot Takeoff” which was weird because I was already in the air. Then right after that the green position mode went to a blue color and it said Aircraft is Landing. It popped up a prompt on the screen saying “Land” or “Cancel”. I pressed “Cancel” and it went away but then immediately popped back up again. I pressed cancel again and it repeated. I tryed bringing it back towards me because it was about 20 feet away and was at an altitude of 5 feet. Although I pressed cancel, it would not allow me to go higher in altitude. After getting it back close to me, I pressed Land and it landed. This was the first time this happened and Im not really sure why. This however could of been worst if I would of possibly gotten further before it happened. Anyone else have this issue?

What if you try and fly with DJI fly at the same site, rather than using litchi

This is not the type of issue I would expect others to experience because is it not normal behavior. There are a couple reasons why the drone might perform an uncommanded landing.

  1. Low battery forced landing. If the drone determined that the battery level was too low for flight, it would initiate a forced landing.
  2. If the drone determined that it was within an Authorization Zone, it would initiate a forced landing.

You don’t mention anything about the battery being nearly depleted or whether or not you were in an Authorization Zone. Knowing those two pieces of information would help.

First line does mention a NFZ

Yes, but it was a nebulous statement. What is an “NFZ”? I know it stands for a “No Fly Zone”, but what is that? “NFZ” is not a technical description of any of the DJI Geo Zones.

I thought they were the same thing, flying here in the UK I tend to check the Altitude Angels safety map and avoid any of the NFZ{marked in red} and avoid any areasw that have a NOTAM {marked in blue) associated with them

A DJI drone will not let you take off if you are in what they call an “Enhanced Warning Zone”, an “Authorization Zone”, or a “Restricted Zone”.

An “Enhanced Warning Zone” requires that you accept responsibility for the flight with a “yes” or “no”.

An “Authorization Zone” requires that you unlock the zone using the DJI unlocking method.

There have been cases where a DJI drone does not acquire a GPS lock until after it is in the air and finds out it is in one of DJI’s Geo Zone which results in a forced landing.

We don’t know if the OP was in one of these zones. So, all we can do is guess.

DJI’s Geo Zones are describe here:

Yeah, The battery level at the time of takeoff was 100% and imo I belive that It had something to do with the Litchi app and the DJI fly app not syncing at the time of takeoff. I only had to accept the NFZ fly zone responsibility pop up once the first time I went to fly in the NFZ area. After that first time it doesnt pop up nor does the litchi app have any issues about take off… But it was the only hickup/issue that i’ve had with the litchi app. I have nothing but good words about it. Other then that, I really enjoy the apps capabilities.

Yeah I get what your saying but I rather use the litchi considering I payed the $30. And its capabilites.
