Installing APK issues

Hello,

I’m trying to run Litchi Pilot Beta on my DJI Matrice 4E controller. I installed the current Litchi Pilot APK from the official Litchi Pilot beta thread.

Version: Litchi Pilot 1.0.0_BETA-dji (build 630)

The application installs normally and allows me to sign into my Litchi account, but immediately afterward I receive:

“License check failed – Please connect to Internet then retry.”

I have done extensive troubleshooting:

• Verified normal Internet access from the controller using Firefox
• Tested more than one Internet connection/Wi-Fi network
• Successfully pinged 8.8.8.8 with 0% packet loss
• Verified DNS resolution is working
• parse.litchiapi.com successfully resolves to 34.198.70.65
• Android shows Litchi Pilot is transferring network data
• Background data is enabled
• VPN is disabled
• Private DNS was returned to Automatic
• Disabled battery optimization for Litchi Pilot
• Cleared all Litchi Pilot application storage/data
• Restarted the DJI controller
• Opened Litchi Pilot as a fresh installation and signed into my Litchi account again

After all of this, I still receive the identical License check failed message.

Since the controller has confirmed Internet connectivity and Litchi Pilot itself is transferring data, could you please advise whether this is a beta licensing/account validation issue, server issue, or compatibility issue with the Matrice 4E/controller?

I can provide screenshots or additional diagnostic information if needed.

Thank you,n
David

Hi David,

Before it checks your licence, Litchi Pilot tests for internet by opening a TCP connection to 8.8.8.8 on port 53. Your ping test doesn’t cover that, because ping uses ICMP. Enterprise networks and some routers block port 53 to outside DNS servers, while browsing still works.

The easiest check is to connect the controller to a phone hotspot and open Litchi Pilot. If it works there, your usual network is blocking the check.

If you have a computer on the same Wi-Fi, you can also test it directly:

  • Windows PowerShell: Test-NetConnection 8.8.8.8 -Port 53
  • Mac Terminal: nc -zv 8.8.8.8 53

Once the check passes, the licence is cached for a week.

Let us know how it goes.

UPDATE: So it works now. After trying a different wifi and then ultimately a hotspot from another cell phone all is working. I am unsure why that happened but relieved. Ironically both cell phones are Verizon and 1 did not allow the Login without License check failed error but the 2nd one worked fine.

Different line provisions on the same carrier can enforce distinct network security policies, so toggling private DNS or disabling carrier security add-ons usually resolves the block
