Currently, using Litchi Pilot Beta, if the start of the flight sequence is too far from the launch point, it cannot be flown. Can the restriction of the “home point being too far from the drone” be increased or removed all together? Its too restrictive.
Can you give us more details in which scenario is it too restrictive?
Currently it’s set to not start if the drone is more than 1km away from the home point (or starting point of the flight)
yes, that’s the issue. if we are more than 1km from the start point, it will not launch the mission. Can you please increase this distance or remove the restriction all together. At least make it an editable option in the settings. Currently I have planned missions where we can not physically access the start point of the flight route.
Having your first waypoint even close to 1km away from your take-off location increases risk. 1km is already beyond VLOS. Unless one has carefully accounted for the change in elevation between the take-off location and waypoint #1 location, the configured waypoint heights will be inaccurate. Furthermore, if one wanted to use the “Above Ground” option, with waypoint #1 that far away from take-off, the configured waypoint heights will likely be incorrect.
Increasing the maximum distance between waypoint #1 and the take-off location to such an extreme value will inevitably lead to an incident from an inexperienced flier especially if they are not intimately familiar with how drone heights and measured and calculated. Guess who they will blame when it happens.
