Home location on litchi hub

When i log onto the hub, it shows my home location as about 30 miles from where i actually live. Is there a way i can alter this?

Welcome to the forum.

Your home location is determined from your computer. You should check your computer’s settings.

If you are running Windows 11, go to Settings and then Privacy & Security. Then scroll down to App permissions → Location. Once in “Location” check to make sure “Location Services” is on. Make sure “Let desktop apps access your location” is on. Further down the page you can (and should) set your “Default Location”.

Hi Wes, thanks for the welcome and the advise.

I followed your instructions and did find that the default location was set to 30 miles N from here (absolutely no idea why!)

After resetting the default to my home, then restarted the PC i’m still returning to the wrong location on the hub.

Under the heading ‘let apps access your location’, should the hub be in this list?

And lower down, should ‘allow location override’ be off or on.

Excuse these newbie questions!

The Litchi Mission Hub should not be in this list. However, the browser you use to access the Mission Hub should be.

This setting is most often used on laptops. If you travel to a new location with your laptop, this setting would allow location details to override your default location from another WiFi network you connect to.

Hi again,

The browser (firefox) is in the list and the location override is off (it’s my home desktop)

Also, the default location is still showing as my home site.

I’ve tried logging in and out of the hub several times as well as restarting the PC.

Is there a cache i can empty that may help?

That is the correct setting for a home desktop.

If you reset your default location, I’m curious what happens when you go to maps.google.com. Does it set the map to your default location?

When you run Litchi’s Mission Hub and then look at Settings→Privacy & security→ Location→Let desktop apps access your location. Does it show Firefox has recently accessed your location? Also, look under Recent Activity to see if Firefox is listed there.

It sets it as my local village, not my house as i didn’t want maps to have my exact location.

says Firefox just accessed my location (could be because i just used F/F to log onto google maps?)

Firefox is not listed under Recent Activity (But Netgear Genie is filling that log with about 4 polls every second!)

Just checked again by going to the Mission hub, Firefox definitely accessed my location

It is not clear to me what you are stating. What isn’t set to your house? You need to set your default location to be whatever you want your default location to be.

When Firefox is used (for Google Maps or Litchi’s Hub) and you have allowed Firefox to access your location, Windows location services should show that.

If you have set your default location in the Windows settings but you experience different results when visiting Google Maps and Litchi’s Mission Hub, you should check your Firefox settings to see if you have allowed either or both to access your location.

In Firefox, go to settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions→Location and click on “Settings”. Check to see if hub.flylitchi.com is allowed.

Hi Wes, The more i search, the more i find that this seems to be a recurring problem with Win 11. Just to refresh, I’ve done all the tweaks that are recommended, resetting my default location etc (although it seems that Microsoft has turned off Maps) Turning geolocation off and on, making sure i have no proxys or VPNs running. So….It seems that my location is somehow embedded deep in the system. My Mac laptop and my Android phone both have the correct location so i think it’s not a problem of my ISP location. Oddly enough. Google maps has it correct but Google Earth still has it wrong. I need to do some mapped flights over my property so i guess i just have to move the map to my home location before i plan the flights. It looks like there is no way round the problem but i’m always open to suggestions!
