This also happened in the beta.
Every time I fly using prop guards, I get the “esc short circuited - solution: restart drone” message. I don’t think I actually have a short; I believe it is a misinterpretation of the additional power needed to lift off. I hope.
Is this a common thing that can be disregarded? If so, is there a payload mode function I can activate to avoid this?

You could try activate payload mode in DJI Fly. Currently you can’t do it in Litchi.
And yes I think this error is wrong (comes from DJI SDK) and will happen when you are prop guards without payload mode.
why do you use pro guards? IMO, if for whatever reason you go into a tree or…? its just something else to snag on.
I always use prop guards for indoor flying.
Hitting the ceiling or a wall won’t result in a crash.

Same. Plus you never know when/if you want a shot flying through a window or door or such.
