Controlled Air Space

I downloaded Litchi because android stopped supporting DJI. The last 2 sites I was on Litchi did forced landings because I was in “No Fly Zones”. Air Aware confirmed on both that I was not in no fly zones. I was scrambling to get back in the air so I could inspect the roof for my client and I went to reinstall the app thinking it was a bug, but now Litchi want’s me to pay for the app to reinstall it. I probably would have but I don’t know if that would have fixed the problem. I instead ended up climbing 2 dangerous roofs to get the info for my clients and I have another today. Can someone please help?

Your post touches on several different topics. I’ll address each one.

If your drone “forced landed” it means that it was in the air before it had established it’s location through GPS and found that it was in a DJI geo-fenced area. You should always wait until the app notifies you that the home point has been set prior to taking off. If you don’t, and fly your drone into a geo-fenced zone, your drone could be forced to land in an inaccessible area.

Air Aware has no knowledge of DJI geo-fenced areas. Air Aware uses Air Control to allow you to get LAANC clearance to fly in controlled air space from the FAA. Also, there is no such thing as a “No Fly Zone” even though that term is used quite often. DJI’s geo-fencing defines zones such as “Enhanced Warning Zone”, “Authorization Zone”, etc.

What you need to do is check on the DJI Fly Safe web site to see what type of zone you were in. Depending on the type of zone, you can obtain an unlocking token on-line or through the DJI app. However, the DJI app is required to load that unlocking token into your drone.

If you are being asked to pay for Litchi a second time it means that you are logged into the “Play Store” using a different account from when you originally bought Litchi. If you are logged into the store (Amazon, Google, Apply) using the same account as was used for the original purchase, the store will not attempt to charge you a second time for downloading the same software.

That’s nonsense.

You can download all DJI android apps directly from the DJI website:
