Can't fly waypoint missions. Error: The remote controller's flight mode should be set to Normal

I can’t fly waypoint missions. When I try to begin the mission, I get the following error: The remote controller’s flight mode should be set to Normal

DJI Mavic Air 2, Litchi 5.0.0-1 on Android version 16 (Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G).

Flight mode is set to Normal on controller. Litchi is set as default app. I did a Force Stop on DJI Fly app and also uninstalled DJI Fly, but got the same error.

Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the C-N-S slider switch on the remote have any effect when flying manual (in the default FPV mode)?

Yes, the drone does respond as it should when switching between C-N-S modes while using FPV mode in Litchi.

Not sure what could cause this, is your drone firmware fully up to date? Check in DJI Fly for any updates.
You should not get that error if the RC is in N mode. I would try with a different mobile device if you have that available.

Firmware on the drone and controller is up to date.

That’s a great suggestion to try Litchi on a different device! I’ll try that.

I tried it with a different phone, but same error.

This error usually suggests an issue with the remote controller state rather than the app itself.

First, I would recommend re-pairing (linking) the remote controller with the aircraft, as sometimes the controller state is not correctly reported to the flight controller.

If the issue persists, please try checking and reinstall the remote controller firmware using DJI Assistant 2. (Connect your aircraft to your computer via USB, open DJI Assistant 2)

This usually resolves incorrect flight mode detection issues.

Thank you for those suggestions. I re-paired the controller to the drone. I also did a refresh on the controller firmware (which just reinstalls the latest firmware). I didn’t see a way to completely uninstall the firmware.

After doing both of those, unfortunately I’m still getting the same error. I don’t know what else to try.

That seems unusual and could indicate a hardware issue. It might be worth contacting DJI support to see if they can provide more insight.
