After reading the existing documentation (Litchi for DJI Drones) and searching the forum regarding focus options, I have a noob question regarding video focus during continuous/constant motion. I apologize if this has already been answered.
I have been filming forestry landscapes for work at a constant height/speed, and I’m trying to determine the best way to set focus. According to what I’ve read, Infinity Focus appears to be a good option for my objective, but it doesn’t seem to be available in Pilot yet. Given that, it seems AFC is my next best option.
98% of my mission is at a constant height and speed, while the first/last few waypoints are simply for a quick pan at horizon level to show the entire mission area. The bulk of the mission is filmed at -35 degrees down at the trees.
According to docs and other posts, AFC will re-focus once the drone becomes stationary for a period of time. As a rookie user, I noticed yesterday mid-way into the mission that my video was blurry until I tapped on the screen to focus.
I assume this is because I started recording at the beginning of my mission, which doesn’t actually get my intended target into the frame until WP 4. My guess is the camera is still focused based on the view of WP1 and never gets a chance to autofocus because it stays in continuous motion. Am I understanding this correctly? Once I’ve filmed the horizon and then tilted down at the trees, I should be tapping the screen again, no? Is there a better way to do this? Once I’ve focused on the trees and remain at a constant distance from them, in theory I shouldn’t need to tap to re-focus unless the distance changes, correct?
Lastly, is Infinity Focus planned for Litchi Pilot Beta?
